The stage is set for the USA Pro Cycling Challenge 2012
The 2012 version of the USA Pro Cycling Challenge will feature the mountainous paths across Colorado.
The event is scheduled from August 20-26 and it is believed that the 2012 version of the race will favour the climbers.
The event will kick-off on August 20th and will finally conclude on the 26th of August after seven gruelling stages.
CEO of the USA Pro Cycling Challenge Shawn Hunter is optimistic that the coming edition of the race will witness the best route used so far in the event.
He briefed, "In determining the route for the 2012 USA Pro Cycling Challenge, we wanted to showcase as much of the Rocky Mountains as possible".
“While creating a challenging course for the riders that would provide ideal viewing locations for spectators".
"The real excitement comes at the finish, with a 3.5 mile vertical climb up Flagstaff Mountain".
The overall winner of the race will receive the honours in Denver on August 26th, 2012.   
The 2012 version of the Tour of  “will be a completely different kind of race – and one that could dramatically change the results,” Shawn Hunter noted.
USA Pro Cycling Challenge is considered as the most cycling event across America.
The first version of the race was held between August 22-28, 2011, and Levi Leipheimer of Team RadioShack-Nissan claimed the first victory at the event.
He finished the race in a fastest time of 20 hours, o minutes and 24 seconds to engrave his name in the history books.
Vande Velde of Team Garmin-Cervelo occupied the second position with a deficit of 11 seconds.
Van Garderen, Danielson and George Hincapie occupied the third, fourth and fifth positions.
A total number of 12 cities to host the 2012 version of the race include Durango, Telluride, Montrose, Crested Butte, Gunnison, Aspen, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Colorado Springs, Golden, Boulder and Denver.
A total number of 128 riders including the top three Tour de France 2011 finishers, Andy Schleck, Frank Schleck and Cadel Evans travelled across a tiring distance of 500 miles in the past version of the race.
The event was broadcasted live on Versus and NBC television with the magical voice of Tour de France announcers Phil Liggett and Paul Sherwen doing the commenting honours.
