  1. The teaching standards in Malaysia is rather poor. Being a Malaysian myself, I'm not ashamed to say that our english is horrible and most Malaysians cannot even speak a coherent sentence without resorting to using slang or Manglish (a result of combining english and malay). Unfortunately bad habits are hard to change and you may just have to become accustomed to it.

If you are an english teacher in Malaysia, you will probably have learned of the differences in their use of English (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malaysian_E... for a better explanation).

  2. Why is there a problem among teachers and English?

It all falls down to two reasons...

The Education system... and the willingness to learn.

No matter how much is thought to students or any other Malaysians, the use of slang and the -lah's would never fade. As, this is our culture. We are all brought up this way.. (well most of us are)

But, at times many Malaysians just don't know where and when to use the slang's...

Job interviews is the worst place to use it.

And on students, well it's individualistic!

One has to put a step forward and learn the language...

and learn to use it well...

It all falls down to how willing an individual wants to learn..

  3. " Follow the leaders "

Have anyone seen and listens to the way the Malaysian PM , his deputy , the former information minister and the minister of education speeches in the English language?

Their lousy grasp in English sets the trend .

They thinks that a horn is the same horn found on a steering wheel .
