The standard of umpiring is poor in the domestic cricket of Pakistan, feels Sarfraz Nawaz – Cricket News Update
Former Pakistani fast bowler, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sarfraz-Nawaz-Malik-c88831 believes that the domestic cricket structure of Pakistan needs a lot of overhauling and the worst part is the standard of umpiring.
The new Chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Zaka http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Stuart-Clark-c2591 is an integral part of that committee.
Pakistan is one of the most fertile lands when it comes to producing cricketers of the greatest abilities and this is the reason why Pakistan has always been a force to reckon with in international cricket, even though they do not have a very strong domestic
cricket structure.
In Pakistan, there is a huge debate about national cricket as some of the analysts and former cricketers believe that regional cricket should be given more preference, whereas, the other school of thought is of the opinion that departments have always produced
brilliant cricketers for the Green Shirts and it would be ridiculous to ignore their contribution.
While speaking to Pakpassion, Sarfraz expressed that different countries in the world have different formats in their domestic cricket and the committee is going to have a close look at the structure of other leading Test playing nations.
He said, "We need to look at the domestic structures of other Test playing nations such as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 and see what the pros and cons are of those structures. Let's take a look at their structures and see if we can benefit
from something similar or whether we need to have a unique structure."
The former fast bowler feels that the standard of umpiring is very poor in Pakistan at the moment and this aspect of the game has to improve if Pakistan wants to have a good grass-root level of the game.
"Umpiring standards and the standard of performance by match referees in domestic cricket are a particular area that I feel needs improving. Some of the umpiring decisions in domestic cricket are beyond belief and the standard of umpiring needs improving
considerably", he added.
