  1. if a hurricane is in the way the ship will change courses and go another way.  if its a tropical storm they will stay on the same port.  been on a ship when a tropical storm has been going on let me tell you it is the worst thing the ship is rocky and no one can walk straight but has hard has it is try eating it will make you feel better

  2. They steer around it.  Hurricanes are big, but radar sees them coming from days away

  3. The captain of the ship has the right to take an alternate itinerary for the safety of the ship and passengers. This may not be the same stops you planned. However,no monies will be returned to you. If a storm hits the port you depart from and you can't fly in or out, the cruise lines will usually offer a voucher for a future cruise or money back. It depends on the situation.

  4. Cruise Ships have the latest weather radar and  are kept aware of weather conditions by radio and satellite. The cruise line will divert the ship away from any adverse weather, you may miss a port on your itinerary and may have a rough ride for a day but it is extremely unusual for a cruise ship to be caught in a hurricane.

Cruising is all about making money and the cruise line doesn't make any money if all the passengers are staying in their cabins because of bad weather conditions. They do their best to avoid anything that prevents the passengers from having a good time.
