What I was saying is that I think it's ridiculous to name that many people in a family the SAME name, not the JR, SR, III part!! How about your own IDENTITY!!! And what about if the same isn't attractive to begin with? Like Homer!!!!

  1. If you don't like it, you do not have follow such traditions with your family.

Some people find it gives a family a sense of cohesion, continuity, history, and it is very important to them. There is a much stronger sense of family where such traditions are followed. How strong do you want your family relationships to be?

  2. I understand proper usage means that the Jr. should be dropped when the Sr. dies.  I don't know if that means the III moves up to Jr.  or not.

I was told John D. Rockefeller, Jr. stated there could only be one John D Rockefeller so he kept the Jr. after his name.

  3. Lol, yeah im a Jr. and ive always been like, thanks Dad, couldnt you think of anything a little more original?!
