Being that it sounds like a sensory box the most logical answer would be physical. However, if you have a child with sensory issues or PDD (pervasive development disorder)you could pretty much make it fit into all of the above.

-developing intellectually through any experiences, but by discerning the differences between the materials and how they feel to them, as well as being provided with a new experience

-physical, because of eye-hand coordination and small motor control

-social, because by being provided with a new object they would initiate new conversations and interactions between children and children w/teachers

-possibly emotional, because children would be developing a sense of trying new things in a safe setting, and could make connections between textures and other things they feel strongly about.
