The team is moving in the right direction, says http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ottis-Delroy-Gibson-c80358 – Cricket News Update
Lavishing praise on the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DJG-Sammy-c1382 led West Indies cricket team, the Windies head coach Ottis Gibson said that the team was moving in the right direction, and was hopeful the side would soon become a bunch of Caribbean players that used to rule the perch
of international cricket in 1970’s.
“The team is moving in the right direction. It has been moving in the right direction for a while,” said the West Indies head coach after West Indies scripted nine-wicket win over on-tour http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754, at Antigua, on Sunday.
“The players are starting to form the right sort of habits and the right attitudes. Everybody has got the sort of feel good factor about themselves,” he added further.
It was a brilliant all-round performance from Darren Sammy’s men with both bat and ball as they crushed the Black Caps by nine wickets on the first Test of the two-match series, played at the North Sound, Antigua, between July 25 and 29. The Windies batsmen
scored two centuries and four half centuries in five days, while http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sunil-Philip-Narine-c91869 bagged five-wicket hauls to dismantle the Kiwis batting line-up.
After dismissing the tourists for 351 in their first innings, the Windies went on to score 522 runs in their first innings, courtesy 254-run stand between openers http://www.senore.com/Cricket/N-Deonarine-c2051, skipper
Darren Sammy and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Assad-Badyr-Fudadin-c46573 all contributed with fighting half centuries. Gayle also scored 64 not out in the second innings to take the side home in the third session of the final day, with nine wickets intact.
Gibson said that a few more such wins would not only boost the morale of the side but will also confirm that the right things they have been doing off late, have started paying off.
“We need a few wins, here and there, to confirm what we are doing is the right thing. This win gives us that confirmation and the belief to keep doing what we are doing and keep trying to move [our] cricket forward.”
The second Test gets underway at Sabina Park, from August 2.
