The teams’ tales after the Korean Grand Prix (Part 3)
All is well - Dr Vijay Mallya, Force India Team Principal
Despite of the troublesome day embraced by one of the team drivers, Adrian Sutil, the Indian business tycoon and Force India’s team principal, Dr Vijay Mallya looks back at the Korean Grand Prix with a lot of contentment. He recalls the day to be one of
the most amazing events of Formula One Calendar.
Moreover, he expressed a lot of joy for the 6th place finish of the Italian team driver, Tonio Liuzzi while showed a lot of confidence for Sutil as well saying, “It was a great performance by Tonio today as he kept his head and raced hard until
the finish… Adrian had a much more difficult race. He feels he didn't do himself justice, but I'm sure he'll come back stronger in Brazil and Abu Dhabi.”
However, Mallya believes that the day displayed great team performance and that the race had boosted all of them for the rest two races of the year, one to be held in Brazil and then the last one in Abu Dhabi.
HRT
Best result of 2010 - Sakon Yamamoto
For every team the targets of a race are different. When one team might be considering nothing below than a win the other could be only focusing on a podium. And then there are some drivers for whom finishing in points is all that they want or at times the
focus could be just on finishing the race.
At a time when finishing at 12th place for the McLaren driver Jenson Button was the worst thing that could have happened, the HRT driver, Sakon Yamamoto is glad as ever to embrace 15th place. This marks the best finish by the driver
since the season started and not only the Japanese driver but his entire team is more than happy for this finish.
As Yamamoto returned from the track he was happy to state, "Today, we achieved the best result of the season for our team and we are very happy about this. It was an eventful race and it was the right decision to stop it after the start because there was
too much water on the track…I want to thank the team, which is working hard all the time and also to the fans who are supporting me."
With this finish the driver has been able to secure his seat for the upcoming 2011 season in the team.
Bruno Senna
The other team driver, Bruno Senna packed up the race at 14th place this giving the team the best finish of the year so far. The result of the Korean grand Prix has encouraged the team immensely and they are looking forward for similar finishes
in the last two races of the season as well.
Senna was very proud to declare that he thinks this race was one of the toughest he has ever had and yet he was pleased to have it wrapped up nicely. The driver continued telling that the track conditions were very tricky and the team decided to continue
with the same set of tyres for a very long while. As he recalls the day now he admits that it was very tough to go on with the same tyres and by the time he reached the final laps, all that he was focused about was to stay on the track.
Colin Kolles - team principal of HRT
Finally the team principal of HRT has had a happy ending of a race. After having struggled hard all through the season, only at the third last race of the season Kolles came off the track with a smile on his face.
While talking to the reporters soon after the race he told, "We did our best race result of the season today and we are all very pleased about this. It was an action-packed debut in Korea and we could hold our position in the championship.”
