The teams’ tales after the Korean Grand Prix (Part 6)
Mercedes GP
The Champ back in action - Michael Schumacher
The weekend was a perfect treat for the fans of the seven-time world champion, Michael Schumacher. After a very long struggling season, a glimpse of the old racer has finally been visible on the track, as he was able to finish the last race in Japan at 6th
place giving his best finish of the season while this weekend he wrapped at 4th place at the Korean International track.
The German has always been famous for doing extraordinarily good on rainy tracks and had it been a few years back he could have easily made to the top of the podium. However, seeing him finish at 4th place was nothing less than a big surprise
for his fans.
While talking to the media as the race ended Schumacher gladly exclaimed, "I am pretty happy with today's race and I have to say thank you to my team who guided me perfectly through the afternoon. I am sure that the spectators had a lot of fun here today
at this first Korean race.”
He further added that the day could have been better had his teammate, Nico Rosberg, not retired so poorly.
Embracing a poor weekend - Nico Rosberg
The Mercedes GP driver was one of the most unlucky men of the day. After a good qualifying the driver started the race from fifth place and continued going on with the same good pace. His 5th place was quite safe until he met the unfortunate incident.
At the 18th lap Mark Webber of Red Bull slipped on the track, went off wide and had his race ended. During the endeavour, the driver took Rosberg along with him, ending his race as well.
The unlucky German as returned to the team garage, he talked to the media saying that the team was looking for a perfect weekend as both the drivers were doing pretty well. However, the poor slip of the Red Bull driver took away the hopes of both.
However, he continued telling that still he is happy as the team tailored a perfect strategy and also the car reacted brilliantly. He now believes to have great two race weekends ahead as the Formula One  caravan prepares to go to Brazil for the next race
and then finally to Abu Dhabi for the last round of the season.
Mercedes GP team principal, Ross Brawn
Finally the Mercedes GP team principal and one of the smartest brains of Formula one is happy. Besides the fact that one of the team drivers, Rosberg failed to gain any points Brawn believes that the weekend was not short of lucky notes for the team.
All through the season he had been backing and supporting Schumacher, explaining that soon the driver would be able to show the old racer on the track. After sixteen rounds of the year, finally his support and advocacy for the driver has turned out to be
true as the driver ended the last race at 4th place.
Brawn was now proud to exclaim, "The team did an excellent job this weekend and have been rewarded with a very good result for Michael today. It could have been even better as Nico was in a strong position and obviously we are disappointed that he was taken
out of the race. Nico had made a great overtaking move on Hamilton, he was very happy with the car and everything was going well up that point.”
He concluded saying that Schumacher’s finish is a very encouraging sign for the team’s hopes for the rest of the two races as well as for the upcoming 2011 season.
To be continued…
