Question:

The thermostat for my AC/heat isn't working properly?

Just wondering if there was an easy way I could fix it? When I turn the AC on, it comes on....but the thermostat doesn't regulate the temperature......The AC just stays on until I turn it off. Is there something easy I could do to try and get it to work?

Not sure what type it is....it's rectangular, with a dial on the top part that you turn by hand to regulate the temp. The top part of the dial is the temp you want it to be...and the bottom is the current temp (which I'm not entirely sure works....) Undearneat that, there is a heat/off/ac switch, and a fan/auto switch hanging from the bottom.

Thank you!

  2. it maybe wore out or just a loose wire. You can get them at HomeDepot starting at $30 and simple to install.

  3. You should try to troubleshoot it and give it a tune-up before replacing it. This link will give you the details.

  4. Sure replace the thermostat. They are cheap and it's easy to do, just turn off the "control" power to your furance by either flipping the switch located close to the furnace or by turning the breaker off.  The Thermostat will have at most 4 wires and they are color coded.

  5. that is my favorite thermostat because it is easy to install, use, and replace.

if you think its that part then just go get a new one. Did the thing work ok before??
