The thing that'll happen in 2012...?

im freaked out about wats going to happen on that doomsday...bcuz by the time 2012, im goin to be 14...i wanted to live to atleast die or be in the military..so can u help me figure out wats acually goin to happen on that date plz and thx!

Everything I've read about it looks like it will be more of a beginning than an ending. Of course nobody knows for sure. Remember Jan 1, 2000? Ask a parent. That got people freaked out and crazed and then........nothing very much , just a beautiful new year to enjoy through the grace of God.

Basically, kid, there have been people predicting the end of time since...the beginning of time. Throughout history, there have been over 200 documented predictions of the end of the world, and,guess what? We're still here  The death of Christ, 2 world wars, the Jews founding Israel in 1952, 1984, the millennium, and the short-but-bloody war in the "Holy Land"; these were just a few of the incidences that lead people to start yapping about Armageddon. You'd think that by now, these doom-sayers would begin to notice something of a pattern. Even scientists agree that global warming, with all of the nasty stuff that it will cause, won't annihilate all of human life on the planet. As for the Mayans, they were talking about the end of the world AS WE KNOW IT, meaning that we'll begin an enormous, X-Men like leap in evolution and become beings of love and inner-peace (it's about d**n time, if you ask me!) Sounds kind of boring with everyone being happy all the time. I mean, I could live without full-scale wars, but conflict, violent or otherwise, certainly relieves what would otherwise be a dull existence. Most people who make these "predictions" are either religious nuts, producers for the History Channel looking to give their ratings a boost, or plain scam artists trying to sell stuff. Look on the Net and you'll be flooded with phrases like magic," "prophets," or "buy my book and learn how to survive!" Chances are nothing will happen, and those people who bought into this hoax will look like the schmucks they are. So live, love, and be happy because human beings, barring a nuclear war, an asteroid, killer robots or an alien invasion, will be here on this earth for a long long time. :)

People have been predicting the end of the world for probably as long as there have been people. If you're going to be 14 in 2012, you are probably too young to remember how many people thought the world was going to end on January 1, 2000. If the world ends, it ends. No sense worrying about it.

lol....Don't worry. The world's not going to end in 2012. People thought the year 2000 was going to be our doomsday for a while. Then it came and went and nothing happened. Then there was 06-06-06 and that was the next date we were supposed be obliterated. Actually, if you look on the internet there are thousands of dates that people keep predicting will be the end. The year 2012 will come and go and then they'll find another date.

my understanding of the 2012 thing is that society as we know it will change, not the end of the world.

My advice is this:

Keep living a normal life and dont worry about it but...

Keep a close watch on the news and world events to get some idea of what might happen along a global war type event, also keep and eye on the planetary activity such as tsunamis, volcanoes, earthquakes, global warming, tectonic plate or the poles shifting.

As i have said its not the end of the world but the end of our way of life.

Imagine if the volcano blew under yellowstone park, that would devestate the US leaving the middle east free to do as it pleases which could result in nuclear war that leads to mass destruction,

Or it could even be aliens land on earth, that would change our whole way of life too.

So just be aware of whats happening as 2012 gets nearer

2012 is when the Maya supposedly say, it's the "end of the world".  That's also the year I will be graduating from high school.  

And what's actually gonna happen? We don't know.  It never happened yet.  In the 1900s, supposedly a lot of psychics said that the world was going to end in 2000.  And when the time came, it never happened.  So we can't say the world will end at that time.  Even scientists say that the world will come to an end in like a million years and everyone alive today will already be gone.

And I don't think you can go in the military at 14.  I think you need to be at least 18.
