The thing wont stop telling me to refresh the...

It turns on fine, but that is about all . It is the music that is a problem. I click on music and it automatically asks me to refresh the library. I click yes and then big suprise it asks me to refresh again! And again, and again and again!!! I have already tried reset and format. They did not work. I put one song on the thing, and about 30 minutes later I got tired of pushing the yes button for the library refreshing. Can someone help me please!
