Question:

The time of day affects how I feel, is this normal?

I've always been more of a night person. After the sun sets (but not necessarily after the moon appears) I become more hyper, active, talkative, and generally more happy. During the daytime, I'm usually more grumpy, irritated, angry, sad, etc. It's not that I can't be happy during the daytime (I can, if something is making me happy) but say the same thing that would make me happy in the daytime occurred in the nighttime. I'd probably be more happy at night.

During the daytime, I don't have as much to say to my friends, whereas during the nighttime I'm nonstop talking about the randomest things.

I get along with my parents more during the nighttime, and I sometimes feel so happy during the nighttime that I act silly (in a positive way)

Is this normal? Am I just being too paranoid?

Do most people have a pattern in their mood swings?

Is there some kind of condition I have?

Thank you, I appreciate your answers.

  1. It's all a part of your circadian rhythm.  You just have a different rhythm than other people do.  It's still within the normal range and doesn't seem to be causing you any distress or dysfunction.  So enjoy being a night owl!  It's usually a more peaceful time to hang out anyway.

  2. This is normal.  I am usually quite grouchy in the AM and by the PM (especially in the evening) is when I am at my best

  3. Its not normal, you probably have a condition.  These are signs of depression, but, could be signs of other things.  You may have a problem with your diet such as too much sugar and carbohydrates. Try eating healthy, drinking plenty of water, and going to sleep on time and waking up on time.  Be disciplined, perhaps try exercising during the day if you have time when you are feeling poorly.  This may help jump start your system and may help you sleep better at night.

  4. Completely normal. I act better at night time too!

  5. You are very normal. The time of day effects everyone differently. I am also more of a night person. I always thought it was because the hassles of the day, work etc are over, which allows me to concentrate and relax more.

  6. Yes i think its normal try taking medicine i am on prozac right now and it helps me if i forget to take it one day or two i am grumpy and i get myself into situations that are really bad. so try taking prozac i think it will help you but try seeing a therapist first though
