The top five at the Japanese Grand Prix (Part 2)
Ferrari made a huge step forward in the last couple of races and is expected to be strong but, we cannot forget McLaren. As there are still a lot of drivers fighting for the title and they are very close to each other, it will
be tight competition and many things can still happen.
Fernando Alonso believes that he still has sometime ahead of him and can definitely make it through on top by the end of the weekend.
Meanwhile, Mark Webber has a different point of view of the whole scenario.
“I’m optimistic we can do well in Japan and the team did well there last year. The momentum is currently with Ferrari going into the race, as they have had two victories on the bounce, but the points situation is still very open”, he said.
Mark Webber stated that it was nice to have a little but it was not very big. Suzuka is a track that all the drivers love and Mark Webber is looking forward to it. He thinks his team will be very competitive and they need to go
there and get the maximum out of what they have.
McLaren duo Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button are both determined to claw their way back into firmer title contention keeping in mind Lewis is not in the best of positions to do so but hopes to finish a race after retirements at Monza and Singapore desperately.
“I'm 20 points behind Mark, and that's a reasonable gap, but it's not an insurmountable one. I guess I will just have to keep my head down and hope for the best. I am not going to think specifically about the world championship right now, I'm just going to
try to enjoy the rest of the season - and whatever happens, happens. Hamilton says.
Hamilton believes that Suzuka is like an unfinished business for him and he will have to race at his best. McLaren has a strong car but it seems that they will have to do more than that after Hamilton’s aggressive behaviour are
the practice sessions on Friday.
His teammate Jenson Button believes he can still win the title.
“I think the world championship is still completely open: obviously, there’s no room for mistakes, but any of the top five drivers could easily steal the title. It might seem a disadvantage to be behind in the points standings,
but, make no mistake, I know I can win this championship. I’m still as determined as ever to keep the number one on my car for 2011”, he said.
The Japanese grand prix is like a second home for him as he spends a lot of his time in Japan with his Japanese girl friend Jessica Michibata. He believes that Tokyo is one of the greatest cities of the world and is an endless
experience. He is having a tough time finishing on top as he is not driving aggressively at all. He is being a bit too defensive and that is not good for this season either since he has rivals like Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel.
Jenson Button will have to take it up a notch and try to make the most of his car instead of finishing in safe points. Jenson is currently in 5th place and is 25 points behind the leader Mark Webber. He will have to
take some risks and challenge his teammate in order to prove to his team that Lewis Hamilton is not the only driver with the aggressive attitude and that the reigning world champion is eager to win the title this year.
It is going to be an interesting race that will be followed by a qualifying session a couple of hours before the race. The drivers will have a tough time and will have to make sure that they are in perfect condition for one of
the busiest day in the history of Formula 1.
