The top ten most expensive teenagers in English football – Part 1
As years progress, we have started to see some outrageous prices for player signings. There has been a trend of having foreign owners for some of the top clubs. These owners have brought and injected a lot of cash in to the English Premier League. They are
not afraid to dish out money to buy talent and, hopefully, success.
This summer we saw that Manchester United paid £16 million for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Phil-Jones-c29903. Sunderland also went on a shopping spree by spending £8 million on Connor Wickham, who is only 18 years of age and plays for Ipswich as a striker.
Bettor.com looks at where these two rank in the top ten most highly-priced teenagers in the world of English football.

Keane, then a 19 year old Irish hot shot, moved to Coventry from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wolves-c40952. It was a simple and plain forward business deal. Wolves demanded £6 million and Coventry paid it. It was a record buyout for any teenager. It ultimately proved to be a smart deal and
ended up in a profit for Coventry. The following year they had sold Keane for £13 million.

Johnson moved from West Ham to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 for £6 million even though he had made only fifteen appearances for West Ham’s first team. He was the first signing for Roman Abramovic at Stamford Bridge in 2003. Johnson has been the most expensive signing ever by
Chelsea for a teenager. But, when Jose Mourinho took over Johnson failed to be a regular first team start. He did not fit Mourinho’s plans and was sold to Portsmouth.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fabian-Delph-c13098
Delph moved to Aston Villa from Leeds for £6 million. He joined Aston Villa in the 2009/10 season but his Premier League career has been plagued by injuries. He has been limited to only ten appearances in two years.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gareth-Bale-c14422
Bale was transferred to Tottenham Hotspur from Southampton for a price tag of £5 million which eventually rose to £10 million. In 2006, Bale had made a full impact with Southampton regarding his http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Skills-c40539 with the football. He joined the team in the left-back
position and became a free kick specialist for his team.
In 2007, Manchester United were interested in the young start, but Bale preferred a switch to the London based-club, Tottenham Hotspur. His career at Tottenham failed to make much impact as his team failed to win any of the English Premier League matches
where he started. His first win with the team came some 24 games and couple of years later. Bale has now settled in with the club as a left winger. The player had a great outing last season and won the PFA Player of the Year award. He was brilliant in both
the English Premier League and in Europe.
Connor Wickham
Currently 18, Wickham has been a target for quite a few clubs. He started being a first team start for Ipswich couple of seasons back. He moved to Sunderland for £8 million and then raising the price tag to £12 million. Wickham was recently a part of England’s
squad in the Under 21 Europe Championship in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Denmark-c2884. However, he did not take any part in the disappointing campaign for his country.
