Question:

The training wheels on my son's bike do not stay in place, no matter how much I tighten the nut holding them.

My son has a bmx style do-diego-go bike with training wheels. It seems every time he turns, or when a training wheel hits the ground hard, the training wheel moves from where it should be (down) to being straight out the back of the bike. I have tightened and re-tightened the nut, and it seems that as soon as the wheel hits the ground too hard, it pops out of place. He was so excited about getting his new bike, so I really need ideas for a fix that will get him riding again. Thanks

  1. Are there any washers under the nuts?  If not, put some on.  If there is then replace them with lock washers.

  2. your best bet would be to find some lock washers or lock nuts.these are available at your local hardware/ lowe's/walmart type stores,or in the bottom of any well maintained or well used toolbox.also you could try this: if there is enough room on the end of the bolt you could always try using two nuts together.
