The tremendous trio of golf - Rory McIlroy, Luke Donald and Martin Kaymer
The present visage of golf and the  level of excitement that the game carries with itself has been enhanced and compounded  by the frequency of headlines made by two of the finest players at present in golf – Rory McIlroy and Luke Donald.
Apart from their stunning performance, they have also played an instrumental role in encouraging the birth of a new breed of talent in golf that is capable enough to sideline long standing legends like Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus.
However, another important stakeholder contesting in the race to ultimate glory is Martin Kaymer, who had catalysed the heat and intensity of the competition.
By clinching the No.1 position in early 2011, he was able to send a clear message to his competitors about his dominant presence in golf.
In recent times, golf has also started to show symptoms of intense rivalry between two champions, namely Luke Donald and Rory McIlroy.
They became the talk of the town but it was primarily the Race to Dubai competition that actually posed a severe threat to the Irishman’s career because of his suffering from dengue fever.
Even after that he did not give up or discard himself from the race to number one. He gambled his luck once again at the Ryder Cup but he could not convert his position into a winning streak.
Donald, with the help of his extremely inspirational and commendable performance, has been able to make his own identity in the game, whereas at one point in time people were only acquainted with players like Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus.
It is also important to accredit this Hertfordshire player for introducing homogeneity through overpowering the element of capitalism in the game, providing other golf players an opportunity to establish their own prestige and reputation in golf.
It is also important to mention here that apart from providing other golf players an opportunity to construct their own position and status, Donald either intentionally or unintentionally set forth a new legacy that is being led by him and the young British
golfer Rory McIlroy.
Apart from being the pioneers of this new lineage both of these golf players are regarded as strong competitors of each other.
According to Donald, “I couldn’t see Rory’s name on the leader board but I knew the double was mine by the 13th hole”.
He also said that the achievements that he has acquired during his career in golf have made him capable enough to handle all pressure conditions he encountered during the match.
It is also important to mention here that since the time Donald has formed an alliance with Coach Dave Alred, there was a profound influence on his performance, which can be vindicated from his graduation from top 30 to number one.
Apart from these two, the third seed, Martin Kaymer, the 27-year old German with his decorated career comprising of 10 European Tour wins, has previously enjoyed the top seed position, hence his desperation for reinstating his position is much more intense
than McIlroy.
It can therefore be anticipated that the competition between Kaymer and Donald will be much more intense. However, at the same time, the probability of expecting a cut-throat competition between the top and the second seed cannot be marginalised.
