Question:

The truth about Adam and Eve?

I recently read that a lot of historians view the story of Adam and Eve as an allegory. I never knew about this, and I always saw the story as truth. What kind of people think it's an allegory (religion-wise), and can it really be considered one? If the whole story of Adam and Eve never happened, how was man even supposedly created?

  1. There seems to be a fairly recent movement to treat some of the more parts of the Bible like the Creation, the Flood and others as allegory or metaphor.  Granted, this is a reaction the the growing evidence that they did not happen, for instance evolution is a fact and there is absolutely no indication in the geological column that a global flood occurred.

  2. Evolution and different religious backgrounds. Depends on what you believe.

  3. Since the evidence shows that humanity was not "created", what follows from your erroneous start will be as erroneous.

The evidence shows quite conclusively that life evolved on this world, and that humanity is but one branch of that evolution. There were no adam & eve, its all a myth.

  4. Jesus said it was fact.....not allegory.

I beleive Jesus.  Evolution theorists will try to get you to believe otherwise...don't be decived....Jesus considered it fact...he ought to know.

  5. Read Richard Leakey, The Origin of Humankind. A much more interesting (and more convincing) account than the fraction of a page in Genesis.

  6. Those historians may be biased. You know some of the intellectuals; they ignore the Divine because they have pride in their own knowledge.
