The ultimate Twilight trilogy question: For all 'haters' and fans?

Okay, let me just start by saying point-blank that I am completely neutral when it comes to the series, I neither love it or dislike it.

But this is a question targeted mainly to the people that truly dislike the series:

Why do you keep reading it if you feel that way about it? A couple of people in this section have always talked about what a c**p writer Stephenie Meyer is, and how she can't even afford to be compared to legendary authors like Updike, King, etc. Yet, they continue read it. Well, I'm speaking for myself--I don't read a book that I don't enjoy. If the plot is so predictable, the characters so dumb, the ending so stupid then why do you keep reading the trilogy?

There's people out there that do enjoy it, so why ruin it for them?

I hope I didn't insult anyone, but I would really like to know.

I read it for multiple reasons.  Firstly, I read the first one after making a sort of deal with a friend of mine where we traded book series for a week and had to have read 100 pages (I gave her George R R Martin's Song of Ice and Fire, if anyone cares--great series!).  Once I started I'm kind of compulsive in that I wanted to finish.  I had only a single plot curiousity; I wanted to see Bella get bitten before I quit reading it.  I've also described it as watching a trainwreck--Twilight is SO bad that some kind of morbid fascination draws me to it.  Also, I think if I'm going to be a critc of the book I should have at least read it in order to have a well formed opinion.  Lastly, it's kind of a peer pressure thing, everyone else is doing it so I get curious as to what the hype is about!

The compulsion isn't that strong... I've had a borrowed copy of Breaking Dawn on my shelf since a few days after it came out, but I haven't touched it yet. :P

Also, just because I don't enjoy it and am vocal about it doesn't mean that I'm "ruining" it for anyone.  I'm a diehard Kurt Vonnegut fan, and a lot of people don't like him and say he's a hack.  That doesn't make me like him less; in fact, it gives me a greater sense of loyalty to him.  Like what you like because you like it, don't worry about what everyone thinks about what you like.

Mainly because all of the people who say they hated every book probably haven't read it. They think every teenager in America likes it and they want to be different.

I totally wonder that, too! If they hate Twilight soo much, why do they continue reading it, and all the while insulting it? Geez... If they hate it, then they should just stop reading it!! By the way, I absolutely LOVE Twilight.

stephenie meyer is an amazing author & her books help you escape cold hearted life & be in Bella's shoes and understand her emotions.

Yes, its true that she cant be compared to a legendary writer, but that because she has writing of her own that shouldnt be compared to anyone's.

because some people are stupid.  they have nothing better to do then waste their time making themselves look like idiots. i personally love the series.

As far as I know my friends who've read the book and didn't like the first one didn't continue reading the series. But possible answers might be that there curious as to how the series ended--although the plot is obvious, it isn't THAT obvious-- however, if they asked someone else to tell them the ending it kind of is cheating. Also its peer pressure. I mean its some best seller, if you are a teen girl and haven't read it yet... you are kind of behind and then friends that have read the series and liked it... well they badger you to continue.

Yeah, not a trilogy...there are 4.  People like the story but they don't like the writing and once you start a story, its hard not to want to know the ending...she is a poor writer, but she can tell a good story (Twilight)....plus most people are just in love with the guys in the book.
