The ultimate football free buys (Part2 )

MARIANO PERNIA - ATLETICO MADRID
Being the first choice in his position for any national side is a big thing but when you are the first choice for a team that boasts stars like Sergio Ramos, Raul, David Villa, Fernando Torres, David Silva and Cesc Fabregas among umpteen others is no mean feat. Pernia was the first choice left back for the Spanish national side in the 2006 world cup but after a horrific car crash last year he has been restricted to only two appearances for his side whole season. Signing the old man will definitely be a big gamble but when it comes to being free nothing is ever bad is it.

SYDNEY GOVOU – LYON
After winning 11 titles with the French power house Lyon and setting the world stage alight in the champion’s league the dynamic French winger is looking for a move abroad. With his contract expiring in the summer, the flying Frenchman will the top summer target for many clubs in England and Spain. And his chances of getting the transfer deal done will be greatly enhanced if he gets selected for the French national side for the upcoming world cup in South Africa.

SOL CAMPBELL – ARSENAL
From the nightmare of being a notts county player to representing Arsenal in the Champions league, the central defender’s fortunes have had a remarkable turnaround in the last year. And after proving that he is still at the top of his game given his age he is likely to be playing football at the top level for another year if not more. Arsene Wenger only signed him till the end of the season but after delivering impressive performances both in the league and Champions League Sol will definitely be a hot commodity in the summer but Wenger will most likely sign him for another year.

JOE LEDLEY – CARDIFF CITY
The Welsh playmaker is only 23 years of age and is at the top of his game and to be honest he should be earning his bread in top tier of the English football. Ledley is going to be out of contract come the summer and after stating it clearly that he will only sign for the blue birds if they secure promotion to Premier league top flight clubs will be hoping that Cardiff fail their task so they can land the midfield maestro on a free transfer.

JOE COLE – CHELSEA
IF Chelsea fails to negotiate the deal with the twinkle-toed winger, Cole will be one of the most high profile transfers in the summer. After his horrible knee injury has seen his form dip a little, the Chelsea wingman has regained his touch and will be vying for a spot in Fabio Capello’s team for the world cup. Cole had always been a top performer for both club and country but it was only his injury that restricted the winger achieving greater things. Tottenham and Manchester United are both hot on the heels of this winger and if Carlo Ancelotti fails to convince him to stay at Stamford Bridge it will be their rivals gain at the cost of their pain.
