No the united states is a member of the united nations. You might be confusing it with The League of Nations which was started after World War I, the united states refused to join.

If there is something on the web which says otherwise it may be bogus info.  Other bogus things seen on the web involve split ups of Poland Between Russia and Germany and Swastikas on Ancient Greek pots.  The first does not match up with The n**i Blizkrieg method which as it is so fast would preclude such and the other does not tally with other historical data.

Umm Darren, the German-Soviet non agression pact of 1939 did in fact carve up Poland between the USSR and the Third Reich.

In addition to stipulations of non-aggression, the treaty included a secret protocol dividing the independent countries of Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, and Romania into n**i and Soviet spheres of influence, anticipating "territorial and political rearrangements" of these countries' territories. Only Finland was able to defend herself against the (Soviet) invasion and remained an independent Western democracy.

Perhaps you are confusing it with the international human rights court, The Hague.  The U.S. never ratified their charter.
