  1. The US Open is one of the four Grand Slam tournaments, it is only named after the country it is played in. However, the grounds are named after Billie Jean King, and specific courts (Arthur Ashe, Louis Armstrong) are named after famous people.

The Artois Championships, however - which were just played in London -, I believe are named after the beer maker.

  2. stella artois is a name for a well known beer , and is probably a major sponsor of the tournament

  3. The US Open is the US Open. The Artois Championships which were just played at the Queens Club, London, UK are named after the beer Stella Artois as they are the sponsors.

  4. it is a belgian beer company named after sebastian artois. i should know as i stayed in antwerpen for a few months and on every corner pub i saw their logo. but it is also brewed in the UK....which is why the london tourney is named after it.

  5. I was going to answer this but I can't improve to or add anything to Steve S 's answer which is 100% correct.

EDIT: I believe that it is a Belgian beer

  6. no idea...
