Hi . i know that Es means IS ( permanent) Eso means 'That', Esta is used before verb( temporary) and estan is the plural. My doubt is how do you use these in sentences ? r there any formats to remember these? I get confused while using these.

And what is the difference btwn ? cOmo es?, cOmo estA? , de quiEn es?

P.s Sorry for the long Question and "?cOmo es?" is the accentuated como.My keyboard does not support it.

  1. Esta can be the verb form "is" as in "he is". In that case the accent is on the last syllable. Esta viejo

Esta, with the accent on the first syllable means "this" for a feminine noun. e.g. "Esta senora esta ocupada" (this woman is busy). The first esta is accented on the first syllable, the second one is accented on the second syllable. Say it out loud and you will understand.

Como es means "what is it like?"

Como esta with the accent on the last syllable means "How is it?" like in "how is it going" in english.

De quien es" means "whose is it?"

  2. Esta (with an accent over the A is temporary (he/she/Ud.))

Estan (with an accent over the A is temporary (he/she/Uds.))

Esta (w/o an accent) means "this, right her"

como esta (accent over a)? means "how is he/she/Ud.?

(in questions como and other question words have an accent)

De quien es means "Whose is <insert item here>"
