The versatile Paul March is all set to leave Hunslet Hawks - Rugby League update
Paul March, the coach of the Co-operative Championship franchise, Hunslet Hawks, has confirmed his exit from the club, today, September 15.
Previously, March lead his franchise to clinch the Championship 1 title in 2010. His club two and half year long spell at the club has been rather successful and he has managed to keep the club from dropping down to the second-tier Championship games.
Despite his brilliant performance, the decision about March’s contract did not translate into the extension of his term with the club. With regards to March’s decision, a statement was released explaining the real root cause behind the departure, which was
an important update.
The statement issued from Hawks quarters said, "The decision not to renew Paul's contract has not been taken lightly but, given the club's current financial position and the new direction we want to move Hunslet Hawks forward in the local community, the
board feel that it is in both our own and Paul's best interests for us to part company at this time.”
The stamen makes it quite clear that March’s future was not decided based upon his performance, which has been undisputedly brilliant. Rather, the strained financial status of the club has led to the management to make the cut, leaving March with an uncertain
future.
March’s wound may be soothed by the generous thank you statement that has been released by the franchise and says a great deal about the abilities of the former Wakefield and Huddersfield player.
Wishing the coach a successful future ahead, the statement issued by the club said, "The club would like to take this opportunity to publicly recognise and offer our thanks for the success that Paul has achieved in his time at the club."
March has been playing rugby since 1999 and slipped on the coaching hat for the York City Knight and spent a year with them. March has been playing and coaching since 2008. In 2009, he was reigned in for the dual role at Hawks and beat the odds to keep his
club in the second-tier championship.
