pay for Brad Hardie's Brownlow Medal?

...."THE first Brownlow medal to be awarded has been sold to a private bidder for a figure believed to be well in excess of $300,000.

The 1924 medallion — the first and only one ever to be made from solid gold — was sold by the family of its winner, Geelong's Edward "Carji" Greeves. Greeves' daughter, June Ford, said the proceeds of the sale would be used to create a family investment fund".....

Hardie's medal has been seized by a local bailiff & has been advertized to go to auction in a bailiff sale. It was seized as part of a Local Court debtors plaint involving Hardie's bankruptcy due to his alleged gambling problems.

  1. i wouldnt go out and spend a lot on some ones else medal

  2. I'd be too scared to buy then own one.

Cause then I'd have to pay big money on securing my home.

  3. I would not pay anything for it.

I can't imagine a Brownlow Medal, auctioned under such circumstances, bringing very much at all.

Brad Hardie was never high profile. A Footscray supporter may pay something for it - hard to judge how much though.

  4. good question, well its a brownlow medal, but i wouldn't pay too much, no more than a grand, its only hardies, but it is a brownlow medal, i actually was wearing one on Sunday before going to the local to watch the boxing, first time Ive put it on, a girl i see, its her grandfathers, (no names) and i managed to whack it on,quite small but the prestige, wow, how would it feel to win one?

  5. I would pay nothing.

I wouldn't want a sporting trophy awarded to, & engraved, to someone else.

  6. $10.00

And that would just be for the novelty of owning a Brownlow medal.

I wonder if there will be a reserve price placed on it. Interesting...............
