The voice of Baseball, Vin Scully is back!
They say Baseball is a sport where good news are rare but once they strike, they make history. There was a lot of disappointment when it was announced that Vin Scully has finally rolled up his career of sixty-one years as a commentator and will now be watching the baseball game from home. Unexpectedly, over the weekend, Vin Scully declared that he is coming back to his first love—baseball! The news spread like a fire in the jungle. Felicitous were the Dodgers when they learned that their old boy is harking back in the commentator’s cabin.
Vin Scully started off his career as a sports caster in the year 1950 where he had Barber as his on-air partner. At the age of twenty five, Scully broadcasted the World Series, which is a record till now. It was in the year 1958 that he got permanently associated with Los Angeles Dodgers. Very soon, he became the most adorable voice of South. Owing to his increasing fame, in the year 1964, he was given an offer by New York Yankees to be their announcer for long-term but Scully declined the offer because he could not imagine life without Dodgers. Alongside, Scully was also a regular commentator at CBS Radio. After entertaining the baseball fans at CBS, he decided to host baseball tournaments for NBC television. Later, he rejoined CBS and also offered his services to ESPN sports. In the year 2006, when the contract terms of Scully and Dodgers were about to dissolve, Dodgers offered an extension for three more years and offered three million dollars to their devoted old man because they did not want to bring their golden relationship to an end. 82-year-old Vin Scully, while expressing his views about baseball, was taken over by emotions. According to him, the love for baseball is rooted deep inside him and it is just impossible for him to break ties of sixty years with this sport. Baseball gave him everything—fame, success, satisfaction thus, completed him as a person. Since Vin Scully has entered into a wed lock with Dodgers, watching the latter play in the court without that charming voice in the background, coming from a small cabin in the nook is out of question. Vin Scully shares an in-frangible bond not only with the Dodgers, but also with the baseball fans and his official commentator’s cabin.
The glory will continue in the sixty-second season, which will be happening in the year 2011. In a statement made by Vin Scully, he has thanked his family especially his wife who incited him to move on with his career—she believes that if one possesses a passionate love towards something, it should last until life is on its last legs. Scully further articulated that during his career of six decades, it happens every time that he gets Goosebumps, whenever the game is in climax—every time, it is a new experience. He has a lot of memories stored in the backyard. Pleased the old man is to see how Dodgers have meliorated their performance over time and how the team has transformed from rookie to expert in the game. Vin Scully is blessed with a natural ability to play with words. He employs a conversational commentary style. Throughout his career, he never took aid from notes and neither let anyone to join him in cabin. Scully knows how to grab the attention of baseball spectators—he makes use of constituted words and phrases. One of the qualities of Scully is that he never spares or overdoes any description—he is blessed with a talent of striking the perfect balance. The name of the great sports caster was inducted into the Hall of Fame in the year 1991. He has received Emmy Awards, Ford Frick Award and several times won the title of best sports caster in history.
