  1. The first major battle of this "War on Terror" was the Battle of Mazari Sharif.

    Here's the wiki article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_M...

The first action taken by the U.S. after Sept. 11th was sending out the Roosevelt carrier strike group to the Persian Gulf.

  2. Desert Storm.

  3. We're all fighting the war on terror. We fight it when we get up in the morning and go about your daily activities knowing "THEY" are out there and that they can attack at any time.

Some of us are fightinig it in a more practical way. Some of us are taking the terror back to the terrorists... letting him know how it feels to be hunted -- not by wild-eyed fanatics, but by professionals who have a mission to see them dead.

But whatever you  do don't give in to them -- even a little bit. When you do that, they win.

Remember that plane that crashed in Pennsylvania? That's been called the first victory in the war on terrorism. Before 9/11 we were complacent. We were convinced that it could never happen to us. When it did, some passengers on that plane decided to take a stand. They stopped the terrorists.\\

We are at war with terrorists, those that support them, even those who don't think it's enough of a problem to worry about. There are people who believe they shouldn't be bothered until the enemy is marching up their streets.

“Pacifists are among the most immoral of men - they make no distinction between aggression and defense. Therefore, pacifism is one of the greatest allies an aggressor can have.” (Patrick Henry)

"People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf." (George Orwell)

“War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing that is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.” (John Stewart Mill)

The enemy knows we hate war. The enemy knows we hate killing. The enemy is gambling that those two what they consider weaknesses will keep us from stopping them. They believe killing is perfectly wonderful -- as long as we're the ones who die. And they want our deaths to be hideous and brutal to show others that we're weak and what they can expect. Moreover, they believe it's heroic to die in an attempt to take our lives. That makes them very difficult foes. They have absolutely nothing to lose.

  4. The invasion of Afghanistan would be the beginning.

There has always been a war on terror.

Are you talking about when Bush actually called it the war on terror, because if not then the war with terror started in the 1st desert storm
