If it is the pipe how do I get to it if it is behind a wall under the crawlspace? My husband has snaked it with a 25 & 50 foot snake. My house was built in 1972-73.

  1. Is it just the suds?  Or is it the water?

If it's the suds, just use less detergent.  That happens to mine all the time.

If it is water, you may have to call someone in to check it out

  2. ...I assume you're talking about the "drain" (pipe).  Out in the yard...somewhere close to the House is a "clean-out" trap...a "threaded" cap that will give you access into the Main drain pipe...chances are...it's clogged with "c**p"...locate the clean-out-trap...open it up and get the "c**p" out...  Are the rest of the house drains working properly...?   "If" they are backing up too...you might have a sewerage problem that needs a "professional" to dig up, open up and clean out.  good luck...backed up pipes "sucks"...

  3. Do any other fixtures drain next to the washer?  (sink, etc.)  If so, are they blocked?  If the washer is the only thing that seems to be blocked, then the blockage is definitely between the washer and the cleanout for the entire house.  Is it farther than 50 feet to the cleanout?  If none of these things works it might be time to call a plumber.

  4. Are you talking about the pipe that the drain hose goes into that is usually located behind the washer?

My husband had to put some type of pressure valve or somthing on it so that air could get in to allow it to drain, but wouldn't let water out.  Mine was spewing whatever water was currently being spun out at the time, and you could actually see the hose being compressed.  He didn't even snake it, just put this thing on and bingo!  Worked like a charm!  Hope that helps!

  5. Have your husband snake the vent also. This can get plugged and prevent the water from the washer from flowing smoothly, causing a back-up.

  6. air locked, try an experiment run a water hose down a bit and turn on the water,if the water goes down you have no clog ,if it comes back you do(be ready to turn it off) what i think is happening is you have no air vent or it's not breathing, your drain hose closes or near closes the top of the drain pipe, when water runs down it hits a cushion of air then it compresses the air and backs up ,if air can't get out water won't run out........tom
