I have two toilets in my house, and both didn't fill up with water after their last use. My other appliances, such as my shower and faucets all work fine. What's wrong? I already made that switch in the back of the toilet wasn't somehow accidentally turned off.

  1. open the tank and make sure the floats and fill valves are both working properly. other than that who knows. never heard of that before. is your houses' water supply on a manifold system. do you have multiple feed lines separated in the basement or crawl space. this is sometimes done to make it easier to do work on the system in case of a problem but someone would of had to shut the valves off.

  2. Inside the toilet tank is a "float". This float tells the toilet valve when it is full of water, on the newer style valves, this float may get stuck in the full position because there is no real weight to them.  To fix this, take the lid off the tank of the toilet and move the float up and down to unstick it.  Most of the time, it will be on the left hand side of the tank, on a tube that sticks up from the bottom of the tank.  Moving this up and down a few times may unstick it, but don't force it because that could break it.  If this happens, turn the water off on the "switch" (valve) that you checked previously.  Hope this helps.

  3. When you say there is no water in the toilet are you meaning int he bowel or the tank? If there is no water in the tank, then it sounds like the water to the toilets are shut off? But if you didnt turn it off it wouldnt have shut off on its own. Now if there is no water in the bowel then you might have a stuffed up toilet. I suggest trying to flush it again and see if water comes in and plunge.

FYI: Most homes have seperate things to turn the water on and off. The toliet one is under the toilet.
