When the solenoid turns the water on, the connector in back of the fridge comes off and water ends up on the floor.

  1. Its still frozen up. When that solenoid comes on their is no regulator from there on. It just flows into trays.

  2. it's possible that the ice maker is frozen

    "BUT"

by no means should the ice maker water line blow off.  check to make sure no parts are missing from the problem ice line, or it may be stretched out and can no longer hold on.

the incoming water line does have a compression nut and ferrule as stated by the previous post, but the plastic line from the the solenoid to the freezer may require just a hose clamp.

  3. The connection must be incorrectly installed.  If it's a 1/4" copper line, it connects with a compression nut and a brass ferrule.  It should get tight enough that you can't get the ferrule off (and the copper won't come out of the solenoid).

If it's plastic tubing, there would be a plastic ferrule, and a brass sleeve that slides into the tubing.

The only reason for it to pop off is that something's missing, or way too loose.
