Question:

The way Yuppies Speak?

I live in Brooklyn New York and the yuppies irrate me. One factor is the way they talk. I was in a soul food joint and one of them asked if the rice had pepper.

The way the man said the word pepper was like this Pep-uur! It sounds like a mix of Boston and valley girl.

Also even declaritive statements always end with an updward inflection as if they are asking a question. Like: We will take the car two-day??

Why do they talk this way. Why???

  1. Clearly still a problem for the Americans.

In the UK we put all our yuppies away a long time ago, when Mrs Thatcher left office.  We had to perform filo-fax and mobile phone extractions on many of them though.

Rehabilitation of them has been a long process but quite a few are now leading illusory lives as social workers but relapses are more frequent than anticipated and, sadly, some have had to be put to sleep for their own good.

The UK is now relatively free of yuppies and the often heard expression of 'Ya' in place of 'yes' is rarely used. For research purposes: Bottled Evian can still be found on display when visiting provisial meuseums.

A cardinal sign of yuppiness is prentending to know how to use a PDA. Should you come across anyone playing solitare on thier PDA at a public meeting please phone +4401999 and ask for the Yuppie Control Authority

  2. The vernacular of the acceptable linguistic pattern in their social group or class.

  3. They think it's cool and stylish to talk like that, they have no clue how SILLY they sound...and like most yuppies they think their "annoying"way is the best way !
