I am looking for a weed killer that can be used on many different kinds of weeds. Behind my garage I have some weeds that are 3 or 4 feet tall. Any one know of a product I can use?

  1. A Round-up type herbicide may be your best bet if you want to just wipe out the area completely.

Round-Up is now off it's patent and there are other brands available that use the same chemical system. Look for weed killers containing Glyphosate-IBA.

Be careful when using such a powerful herbicide. It does it's job very well. It is non-selective which means it kills or damages anything it touches. It is also trans-locatable and can be active for years. That means if you accidentally spray a tree or shrub you like, the plant will soak it in, but may not die or show damage for quite some time. It can relocate to anywhere in the tree for a few years, and damage can show up anywhere.

I'm not trying to scare you away from using it, just use it properly - be aware of run-off and wind-drift. It is a safe and effective type of herbicide.

  2. Hi Jennie,

Well, I've been married to a farmer for nearly 10 years now and he taught me years ago that over the counter "Round Up" weed killer works really well plus he gave me a tutorial on how it works..

When you spray it on weeds for example a week or so goes by and they literally die... How they die has always been the mystery to us 'normal' non-agricultural people.. Actually the action of Round-Up is quite cool, when you spray it on a weed, it acts like a super-duper fertilizer and super-accelerates the lifespan of the weed making it grow to it's entire lifespan in like a week or less at which case reaching full growth it dies.......

Once the weed does it, it literally dies as it's slow growth of several months was just super charged in a matter of days or weeks....

By far I have found this over the counter, buy it at Wal-Mart product to be the easiest and most cost effective method for killing those pesky weeds...

Good Luck and have fun Spraying :)

  3. this is what to do, cut the grass and weeds rake away all the clippings that spray down your whole lawn. Scott's makes the best weed killer. 3 weeks later you can reseed the area and than another 3 weeks after that fertilize and spray again
