what is a good bike and light... i heard the 04 r6 is pretty light does anyone know the weight of bikes?

Go to the manufacturers websites, and get all the specs and info on whatever bikes you're interested in. Weights haven't changed much in the last 3-4 years

all the new 08 and 07 models are pretty much the lightest of them all. a 08 RR is 410lbs with all fluids.

the older it gets the heavier they become, but most pre 00 bikes are between 400-475 lbs dry weight
