I was just watching E! and someone said it like "o-mahge". I've never heard someone say it like that before. I thought its "om-age". Apparently people say it "hom-age" too"? Is there a right way to say this word? hahaha CHEERS

  1. I agree with above poster. The "American" pronunciation is ah-mage.

    The "French" pronunciation is ohh-mage.

    Hom-age is just plain incorrect.

  2. That's giving the word a pseudo-French accent. That's all.

I've heard both being used interchangably before. However, the French pronunciation might make you seem a bit more pretenious to others.

Your spelling is correct; it's spelled "homage".

  3. In the UK the normal and, as far as I know, correct pronunciation is "Hom-mij"; the French pronunciation "om-AAJ" would be regarded as pretentious in the extreme.
