  1. Because, they do not know that feeding the hungry and helping the poor is loved by God. God loves the poor and who are in difficulty, when the poor are helped God is pleased.

  2. not just that, we also live our lives more christ-like than most christians.

    funny, huh?

ive never condemned someone to h**l for their beliefs. im willing to bet cold hard cash that most christians in the world have. to condemn someone is basically being their judge and passing sentance.

they beleive whatever someone is doing is wrong, they find them guilty and they sentance them to h**l.

amusingly thats as far as they get. obviously they cant ensure they go to h**l or send them there.

this can be taken one more step, and thats when you see g*y people being beaten up or killed or treated poorly.

  3. All are made in the Image of God .. Jezebel and have the Breath of

    God in them.

And God blew the Breath into Adam.God blew His breath of life (

Gen. 2:7)  and we became a living soul

We all wok for each other. ( ALL HUMANITY)

  4. Bet hedging. ;-)

Hey - I'm poor and hungry, too.  I don't get paid until tomorrow and I'm down to 2 tv dinners and 5 tablespoons of ground coffee

  5. Feeding the hungry and helping the poor are only a part of God's work. That could be humanism which is nothing but atheism.

The real God's work is telling people about God and His plan of salvation.

"Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God." (Matt. 4:4)

  6. yeah, they should stop it right away, that stuff's under copyright

  7. Ahhhh Miss Dee....I do it for the love of humanity, not a make believe god.

  8. because they feel morally better for doing it.

Just because someone is atheists it don't mean they can't do humanitarian work.

he you saw an old women getting hit by a car would you think I won't help her because I am Atheists and would get no reward for doing it. of course that person would help.

  9. God works through everyone. My parish operates a nursing home.

  10. God's too lazy to do His own work?

  11. Because some of us are good people.  Just like some Christians are good people.

  12. feeding the hungry, helping the poor... etc is not "God's work."  It's the work of charitable humans.

  13. Why do you feel the need to capitalise "atheist"?

It's not gods work dopey, read the "Selfish Gene" by R. Dawkins It will explain all for you.

  14. Because even atheists were created by God in his image with his qualities of love, justice, etc built in whether they acknowledge it or not.

  15. Do people like Maars really exist? Or is she just a troll?

My kids and I volunteer our time on Saturday mornings to help out at the local Methodist church. They provide food to the needy through Angel Food Ministries, and on the one Saturday per month  that food is distributed, my kids and I help prepare the social room, unload the semi, distribute the food, and carry the filled boxes to the customers cars. While I am helping to clean up, my kids prepare and distribute the 7 donation boxes that are gifted to the needy each distribution day.

On the other Saturdays we do whatever is necessary at the church, be it readying the hall for a fund-raiser, helping to make quilts and other crafts for fund raising, taking Angel Food Orders, etc.

I suppose I should mention that I am disabled due to rheumatoid arthritis and other connective-tissue/joint disorders, and struggle with brutal pain on a daily basis.

I donate my time because I can, and I want to. I started this when I sat at the church parking lot a while back, waiting to receive my own order of Angel Food. I noticed that women old enough to be my grandmother were unloading this truck and doing all the work. I felt guilty that they were waiting to serve me. That just didn't sit right.

My kids and I helped out that day and we've been helping ever since. What gets to me is this: It's the elderly men and women who do the vast majority of volunteer work at the church. They are crippled, frail, and many besides me have arthritis. I don't understand why the elderly are doing this and the young church members are completely absent. They are nowhere to be found on distribution day.

My family would do more if we could, but I live in a small town, don't drive, and the church is the only a half mile away, so I don't have much difficulty making the walk.

Oh, yeah, I suppose I should mention that my children and I are atheists. We do this to help out. Because we are able, and because we care about those around us.

  16. Because God is still in control. And He is good.

An example: breath is still necessary for life whether we believe it/want it /think it is/ like it or not. Goodness does not originate with humankind.

  17. Why would Atheists NOT do humanitarian works??! My Atheist husband believes that this world is "all there is". He wants to leave this world in good condition for our children! Don't you?

EDIT: Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They gave me all these thumbs up before I added the Christian part of my answer. Sorry about that. I like to edit.

  18. There are  many Christian-sponsored hospitals, clinics, schools, colleges, homeless shelters, halfway houses, and other educational and charitable organizations. “And where are the atheist hospitals?

I do not judge you and I formerly  called myself Atheist and I do not claim to be better than you.

It is often that Atheist feel that Christians are saying they are better, it would be foolish to say this the only difference in any man is the difference God can make.

No man is better we are all sinners and at some point did not know God.

Christians are taught not to judge but to lead others to Christ.

Christ accepted us as sinners we are by faith made new but in no way literally made new.

Christians are also sinners and the only hope we have is through the righteousness of Christ.

  19. Doing the right thing is doing the right thing whether you believe or not.

  20. That's ridiculous.  Did they tell you that?  If they are doing that, they are only trying to prove something.  They have no compassion.  They are fighting against God all the time and trying to make people believe their lies.

  21. Christians are, too!

Maybe atheists are because deep down, they know the truth... or maybe they just wanna be nice people.

  22. Hi Mommy,

You do of course realise that the work of God involves so much more than feeding the hungry, helping the poor etc...

The work of God is to bring freedom to the captives, to bind up the broken-hearted and to proclaim the year (or season/age) of the Lord's favour! Now that is something that I see very few atheists doing.

There is also a very big difference in the way something is done. Someone said here that atheists doing such things are little more than people doing charitable (humanitarian) work and that person hit the nail on the head. Atheists do humanitarian work because they see half of the story - ultimate value in the human body and human emotions. Theists see the other half as well - ultimate value in the eternal destiny of the soul and the glorious worship and praise of the One, True, Living, God.

Humanitarian work is done with the objective of alleviating the suffering of the here and now and forging a better, safer, healthier world for the children of tomorrow - sounds like a lofty vision. Indeed it is good to alleviate suffering, to loose the chains of injustice and to campaign against poverty and I wish there were more people doing these things - to some degree anyway. I live in Malawi, Africa and have seen the damage that foreign aid money can cause - as if we know what is best for these people and how best to achieve it. On many occasions all we have succeeded in doing is making people dependent, feel worthless and ultimately become more broken-hearted and captive to the lures of money. Let's not fool ourselves that any of us know the answer to poverty or hunger - indeed there will never be one for Jesus himself said that 'the poor will always be with you'.

God's work is done for the ultimate goal of bringing glory to God and causing people to turn their eyes, hearts and souls towards Him. It is done because the eternal condition and destiny of the soul is of the utmost importance and because the way we live, act, speak and think now is the evidence of our confident assurance in the promises of God to restore all things, to forge a people for himself, to dwell with them and to wipe every tear from their eyes. Those who do God's work do it to His glory as their spiritual act of worship, offering their bodies as a living sacrifice of praise. To do God's work is to bring hope - not only of a better life in this world but in a world not yet created, the New Earth of Revelation!

God's work is of ultimate and eternal value, the works of man are temporal and often futile.

Again, this said, someone else pointed out that works done and accompanied by a sweet smile and 'if you don't believe you'll go to h**l' do little to honour the name of God. Such works God would spit out for they are done with judgment in the heart. In this sense the similar works done by atheists are often (but again not always) better because they are largely done with genuine care and compassion (and any frustration exhibited at least doesn't condemn to 'h**l' even though it is still not edifying). At the very least, such Christians would do well to remember that they are supposed to be glorifying God by their works and not trying to condemn man or 'heap burning coals on his head'...

  23. I have broken my back once too often.

  24. Jesus himself said "He who follows my commandments (feed the hungry, help the poor) Honor me, and he who does not dishonouors me and God."

Nothing there about belonging to the right church or even being a Christian.

Many non-Christians will be in Heaven (no it worn't be boring or singing Kumbaya) and many "Christians" will be in h**l for not giving a flying flip about those around them.
