  1. WoW, Ummm.. you think really we can say who is the biggest scientist ??? maybe in terms of size it could be possible :)

  2. Einstein.

  3. Define "biggest".

If you mean most famous: probably Einstein; although I would argue for Galileo or Newton too.

Living - must be Stephen Hawking, although in the US, I'm guessing Neil DeGrasse Tyson is pretty famous.

Let's face it - how many people have heard of Einstein?

And how many have heard of, say Crick & Watson?

    I bet Einstein wins...

  4. biggest = greatest

    In Antiquity: Archimedes

    In Modern era: Newton

Recently, many: Pauling, Howard Florey (medicine), John Bardeen and Walter Brattain and William Shockley, ...

  5. These days?  That's hard to day.  James D. Watson, co-discoverer of the structure of DNA, is still alive (although not doing anything productive I think).  Stephen Hawking is probably the most famous, although I don't think he is doing a lot of active science these days either. In meteorology, Kerry Emanuel is very influential and productive.  My pick, though, would probably be Roger Penrose, who has been one of the most creative mathematicians and physicists of the past half century.
