  1. No theres plenty We need tospend money on our own resorces instead of givin it away to stupid countries MAKES ME P--SD

  2. algae Oil.

I've read that scientists are experimenting with algae oil. It's somewhat similar to petroleum. They set up these oil farms where they lay a common algae found in most areas of the world on large metal sheets and hang them in the sun. The heat causes the algae to give off loads and loads of this oil and per acre, it yields 100x more energy compared to Ethanol. I also read that Ethanol, which many people want to use, is very wasteful of corn. One fill up for a SUV uses enough corn to feed one person for a year. Not to mention it drastically raises the prices of corn products.

They say that to satisfy the energy needs for the US , the farms would only take up about a fourth of the unused deserts in Arizona, which is very little. This energy is also very affordable.

    Hope it helps! :-)

  3. The hard truth is that we need to stop using so much energy period, not get it from another source. That may mean staying close to home and work and traveling under your own power. There is no short cut to reducing consumption, and no magic bullet (like an alternative to hydrocarbon combustion to fuel locamotion). Tech will improve, and some day we may have all the energy we can use gathered from the sun, geothermal, or even gravitational tides, but until then we have to stop using so much energy in any form. That is the simple and hardest answer.

  4. No it won't.  Technology will improve, and we will never run out of oil.

  5. Liquid hydrocarbons are the most efficient way to transport energy.  The oxidizer for a gasoline or diesel engine is oxygen that is all around us.  No need for two tanks of fuel.

Compared to steam generation, gasoline is more thermodynamically efficient because no need to condense steam products.

So the odds anyone is going to find a substitute with all the advantages ... is not likely.

  6. We already have a cleaner and more efficient alternative - electric cars.  Some really good ones are currently in development.

Available in California in October 2008, the Aptera typ-1e will cost about $27,000 with a top speed of 95 mph and range of 120 miles per charge.

Soon thereafter Aptera will introduce the typ-1h, a plug-in hybrid version of the typ-1e with a 40-60 mile range on purely electrical energy, and a range of over 600 miles total when in electric/gas hybrid mode, for around $30,000.  On a 120 mile trip, the typ-1h will get 300 miles per gallon.  The shorter the trip, the higher the efficiency.

Available in 2009, the ZAP Alias will cost $30,000, have a top speed of 100 mph, and a range of 100 miles per charge.

Soon thereafter the ZAP-X will be available at a cost of $60,000 with a top speed of 155 mph and a range of 350 miles per charge.

Available in 2009, the Miles Javlon will cost $30,000 with a top speed of 80 mph and a range of 120 miles per charge.

Phoenix Motorcars will start selling their SUT to individuals in 2009.  It will cost $45,000 and have a top speed of 100 mph with a range of 100+ miles per charge.

  7. Water is an alternative that is not only safer environmentally , yet it will help people save money, which in turn can help boost our economy.

  8. Converting to ethanol/methanol will be a simple matter of changing out the carburettor and a few fittings.

Switching over to something like an E V Gray  electric motor or a SEG generator would also be interesting alternatives.
