The worse pain I have felt!! Is this a REAL contraction?

Im nearing the end of my first pregnancy.

So It only lasted a few seconds, accompanied by menstrual like cramps, and a dull back ache nothing too bad.. It was a VERY sharp pain on the lower left side of my abdomen.

Is there other signs I should be looking for just to be safe?

It only happened once so far, and that was 5 minutes ago.. I'm waiting to see if it happens again. I have never felt anything close to that, and i have two tattoo's.. lol

Everyone's pain is a bit different, but I would say it probably was a contraction.  You will probably not have another for an hour or two.  When you get (depending how far you live from your hospital) about 4 an hour - consistent call your doctor.  They will tell you when to go to the hospital.

thats funny...   i was just experiencing the same thing when i laid down for a nap....  i couldnt even fall asleep so now i'm up...didnt cross my mind it could be a contraction...but now it does

have you had your bloody show yet? Watch for that, it could mean your in labor.

Could be your first contraction. Believe me, they will get a lot worse. Good luck and congratulations!
