The year 2012?

Hey, has anyone else heard about 2012 and the massive polar shift?

Supposedly 3/4 of Earth's population will die from huge tsunamis, floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, volcanic activity, drought, blizzards, and any other distasters that nature can throw at us.

What are your thoughts on 2012?

Yes. I have. But there won't be anything like earthquakes. The earth itself won't actually rotate, just it's magnetic field. But  compasses point the other way and during the change there will be a lot of radiation from the sun because the magnetic field will weaken temporarily. So we'll all get melanoma. Spooky.

Also, there are all ready signs of changing in some parts of the southern hemisphere.

And where did you get all the scientifically based data for this alleged catastrophe?  I read most of the science sites and some magazines and have not seen anything about any of this alleged event.  Keep in mind most stuff you read is made up by some kook somewhere.

theres alot of scientifical, archeological evidence that something big will happen in 2012, could be true, maybe not though, i try to keep and open mind. Don't forget all that millenium bug business, all that hype for nothing. I think a few people on here have said it's all made up, and a load of rubbish, but actually when you read into it theres definately something to it, If i had a guess I wouldn't say natural disasters I'd go with man made disasters, the way things are going I would imagine some kind if nuclear catastrophe on a global scale, dw we'll find out in a few years time.

Watched a program the other night about the reversal of the poles...the conclusion was that scientists still can't decide on when it will happen and how it will effect us....were're 600k over due....last one  was 800k yr ago, and happens generally every 200k yrs.

Some scientists (sizemologists) think we have started the process already but don't think it will actually happen for 150 yrs maybe even 1500 yrs...

So i wouldn't panic and start selling your shares just yet!  

One thing that may occur is an epidemic of cancer...as space radiation will be able to penetrate our atmosphere for a time...but even the a sub species of humans were around during the last one and survived.

As anything drastic planned to happen as early as 2012...I doubt it....

The Mayans predicted this, and there were quite intelligent when it came to astrological happenings.

However, with that said, I don't believe in doomsday theories. I do not think anyone knows the date of the end of days. So many people, including Nostradamus have predicted such things. The Shakers, strongly believed the world would end in the 1900's. They believed it with every ounce of their heart so, to prepare themselves for God, they abstained from sexual relations.

Guess what? they died off, with no children to follow in their footsteps, while the world keeps on going on.

There are several theories as to why the Mayan's predicted the end of the world in 2012. December I think. The first one is that they always ended eras in the world in the same fashion as the 2012 ending. This can mean that we will enter in a new era in 2012. Perhaps an era of farther space travel. Maybe we will send people to Mars to set up a colony? Maybe we'll be visited by aliens. The reason there's no information on the next era is that the Mayans were conquered before they could finish it.

Natural disasters happen every year. This past year saw a couple of catergory five hurricanes hit Mexico while near blizzard conditions hit North America hard this past weekend. I'm sure those affected would think that's the worst.

Humans have proven to be resilent. We are strong and together, we can help people affected by disasters, and together we will survive.

I keep clicking on the british flag every time I log now. so I hope you're not American as I apoligize in advance for for this. Were did you get this load of old rubbish from? What news report, what media source proves any of this?
