In some African countries girls as young as 9 are married and expected to start having s*x with their husbands.

In India, although it is illegal (age of consent and age of marriage is 15), many children are married as young as 3-5 years of age with the bride moving into her husbands home. BUT, they do not start having s*x until the girl has had her first mensus.

In a number of countries, especially Muslim countries, girls are often married shortly after their first Mensus which is usually around 12 years.  In Indonesia the age of consent and age of marriage is 15, but with the consent of the local Mullah (Muslim priest) a girl can marry at 12.

Most girls will be fertile by the time they are 12-13,many countries take this as indicative of natures permission.

However,I would say that marriage before 16 restricts the girls opportunities to fulfill her childhood and education potential.

It is mostly backward countries that persist in these unsavoury practices.Perhaps,unduly early marriage is a contributory factor in overpopulation of many third world countries.

One would hope that the Christian Church would make further efforts to convert many of these peoples and educate them in good moral practices.
