The youngest of the lot, Ballymac Orchard grabs the £122 prize money at Hall Green on 21st December
Three trainers stood out to be the most prevalent throughout the meeting at Hall Green on 21st December, G Ballentine, J Meek and C Andrews. G Ballentine’s entries won a good six times, with one of them being a Grade A2 success, while C Andrews and J Meek won twice. J Meek, too, accomplished success in a Grade A2 race.
The race won by G Ballentine’s hound, Ballymac Orchard, was over a distance of 480 meters, and he was able to amass £122, the prize money for the winner..
Ballymac Orchard was awarded this, only after he was able to get done with the race in 29.39 seconds. Pat Sallis was the trainer of the 7 to 4 favourite for the race, Enormas Frankie, who finished off the money at fourth position.
Even though the runner-up was behind by a significant distance of 6 ¼ lengths from the winner of the race, Westmead Luke leaped through the distance in 4.90 seconds and made it through the wire in 29.89 seconds, reserving the second position.
In pursuit, behind the runner up, was C Kyme trained Killishin Lady, who ran through the track in 29.93 seconds.
Professor Boswel, entered by S Buckland, followed right behind the 7 to 4 favourite of the race and thus, parked fifth in 30.35 seconds. The last hound to cross the wire was Questhouse Woods, an entry from Pat Sallis’s kennel.
Ballymac Orchard, who is a little more than a year old, has raced seven times since 29th October. He has always raced over a distance of 480 meters and at the same venue, Hall Green. The young hound has attempted Grade A2 and A3 races till now and this was his third victory from seven starts. He has been sent as a favourite only once.
Ballymac Orchard has won two Grade A3s on the trot, with the first one on 3rd December and the next on 10th December. His performance has been consistent throughout his short career, coming fifth only once and that also in his very first race.
He possesses the potential to excel further and post more victories, which is very likely, considering he has just started his racing career.
