  1. black would be cool, but maybe a dark red would be good because during the day time it will look nice, but when you are watching  a movie it will dark and set a nice warm tone in the room.

  2. Typically in a home theater you want a dark color but you also do not want a dungeon either, do you? Stick with nice darker neutral colors like brown, burgundy, blues, greens, grays, beiges and taupes on the dark side. It will assist in keeping the room dark while also allowing for a comfortable feel.  The colors based on reds and browns will have a nice warm feel but the blues and grays may tend to be cooler feeling. You do not want overly dark or overly bright colors. If the room gets too dark your eyes may get fatigued if the room is too bright it may reflect too much light making the room seem overly bright or may wash out the image on your screen. This is less of an issue with direct view TVs as apposed to projectors.

Don't let anyone here try to make ya feel bad. Asking about your HOME THEATER color in HOME THEATER is just fine. Most interior design people know little about how home theaters should be colored and lighted unless they specialize in that type of design. So you came to the right place . However, posting the question there would not be a bad idea you might get someone who does know. Good luck with your theater room.

  3. If you are in the framing stage still....

Then it is more important what you put on/behind the wall before anything else.

More questions? Just e-mail me. I have owned a home theater business

  4. LOL! This is Home Theater Systems Electronics. What is it about that title that makes you think anyone here is a decorator? Try something like the YA "Home & Garden-Decorating" forum. 'Maybe' you'll get someone who cares and knows something about color and decorating.

  5. I would go with a Black or dark purple, because if you think about it, do you really want to sit in a theatre with light colors. It just dosen't seem like a theatre if your watching a movie on a white projecter screen while looking at a white or yellow wall. Also, just so you know you spell it theatre.
