Theatre Diva to dominate the Country Gentlemen’s Association Veterans’ Handicap Chase on 18th February
The Country Gentlemen’s Association Veterans’ Handicap Chase is to be raced over two miles and five furlongs at Wincanton on Saturday, 18th February. The class 2 race offers the purse of £15, 640 for which thirteen horses will step down on the track.
Theatre Diva, who is King’s Theatre’s eleven-year-old bay mare out of mare Rigobertha, is trained by Jackie Du Plessis. The mare is to race her seasonal debut today after last racing on 21st April 2011.
Theatre Diva only made three starts during the previous season. In her last season’s debut on 18th March 2011 in the Christie’s Foxhunter Chase Challenge Cup at Cheltenham, she unseated her rider and had to discontinue.
On 10th April, in the Ludlow Gold Cup Hunters’ Chase at Ludlow, Theatre Diva won as the 7/4 favourite for the race. She dominated the field of ten riding for the wire.
She was the 11/10 favourite winner in her next start, the Abberley Hall Old Boys Association Hunters’ Chase on 21st April at Ludlow. She had eight others struggling to get to the wire during the race.
It is highly probable that she gets sent as a favourite in her seasonal debut too.
Another credible entry in the race is the ten-year-old grey gelding Mister Wiseman who is trained by Nigel Hawke. He was pulled out from his final start of the previous year on 30th December in the Freebets.Co.UK App Download Today Handicap Chase.
Mister Wiseman won the Marston’s Pedigree Handicap Chase on 12th November at Uttoxeter against the 9/4 favourite of the race, Present To You who was positioned second.
Prior to 12th November, Mister Wiseman won the Chemtech Handicap Chase on 28th October at Uttoxeter. He came a little hard on the 3/1 joint favourites of the race, Civil Servant who finished third and Kikos who settled in the fourth position.
The ten-year-old bay gelding trained by David Pipe, Painter Man has already struck a victory in his seasonal debut on 24th January in the Humberstone Handicap Hurdle at Leicester.
Mujamead was the 5/2 favourite for the race and finished third behind the winner. For Painter Man, it is the second start of the season.
