1. In high school, is it true that no matter how talented a person is, the seniors always get the better roles?

2. My friend is auditioning for Into The Woods Jr. and really wants to be little Red Riding Hood. She has reddish brownish hair, is 4'11, pretty thin, and her vocal range is soprano. But, she feels very comfortable belting and singing mezzo and some alto. Would she be good for that role?

3. Looking back at question 2, what other roles might be good for her?

  1. Seniors usually get the lead roles.  Your friend shouldn't worry she will be a senior one day...You have to pay your dues.

  2. 1. yes, because since they are leaving they want to make their last year memorable, but don't worry, you will get there someday, remember that in high school its not who its better but what its fair and its fair that they get to have that at least in their last year, they are not that concern on how good the production is but more in the students.

    2. I think she sounds like a lovely red riding hood, but red riding hood should be a little bit chubby cause remember that she is a cute little girl that the wolf wants to eat and I doubt he wants to eat a bunch of bones.

    3. I really don't know what are the other options, but with makeup and dressup now a days she can play any part

  3. 1. No not necessarily, though if they were choosing between a senior and a freshmen they would be more inclined to choose the senior because of the fact that they're graduating! But if you're a good actress singer and dancer then they might pick you just because you've got experience and are good at the craft! So keep working hard!

    2. Yes, I think she would be very good. Considering the description you have given for her appearance and vocal range I think she matches beautifully with the part! She has a very good chance of getting in ~ that is if nerves don't get the best of her at her audition!

    3.  Cinderella etc etc... I could go on and on! She just has qualities that suit many different characters!

Good for your friend! It appears she'll be great in the acting career field!

  4. 1) it depends on the high school, some do it by talent, others do it by sernority and then talent, it depends on the school and teacher

    2) why not little red is a great part and  she's pretty funny!!- tell her to try her best ,

    3) Cinderella, it's a great soprano part

and lastly:  in the end you never know what role the director will have in mind so why not try out for all the parts that they're allowed to!
