I think we are holding our ground. Reductions in per capita pollution are keeping pace with population growth.

The lastest world environmental statistics show steady declines in pollution in the US.  This decline started in the 80's and has been pretty steady.

The same isn't true for other parts of the world, unfortunately.

Solutions for poorer nations to tackle these problems is in allowing and assisting them to progress and expand their economies.

History shows that people handle pollution after they reach a good level of prosperity first.  Makes sense when you think about it.
