Thecornishcockney set to conquer Wolverhampton for the third time - Hotel & Conferencing At Wolverhampton Handicap
Having bagged two straight wins at Wolverhampton, Thecornishcockney is all set to complete a trick by winning the Hotel & Conferencing At Wolverhampton Handicap on Tuesday.
The 3-year-old opened his account at the end of November, when beating Vimiero by three and a quarter lengths in the Book Horizons Restaurant Maiden Stakes.
Just three days after his first victory, the John Ryan-trained came out to the field, and secured another marvellous win. In the hands of Robert Winston, he notched up the first rank in the Wolverhampton-racecourse.co.uk Handicap.
Today’s event is more competitive than Yesterday, and Thecornishcockney has a big penalty to carry. Nevertheless, he deserves preference if turning out again. The son of Cockney Rebel is due to face eight rivals over a distance of one mile, five furlong
and 194 yards. The contest is for £2,264. The officials will start the class-5 contest at 15:40 GMT.
Chookie Hamilton was another to bag success here on Monday. The 8-year-old is also in great shape after two consecutive wins, likely to give a lot of resistance. The son of Compton Place suffered a couple of awful defeats in September ahead of joining Keith
Dalgleish’s yard, for which he recently bagged two wins.
After taking a narrow win over White Deer, the Straightline Construction Ltd-trained continued his excellent work, and won the Download Our iPhone App Handicap For Amateur Riders comfortably by four lengths.
Another horse with fair chances is Pertemps Networks. On December 1st, the Michael Easterby-trained proved too strong for rivals in the 32Red Handicap. Currently in fine fettle, the 8-year-old is expected to set up the race.
Apart from these three, no one is likely to do something special. Fairmile was well beaten in the previous four encounters. Stand Guard needs to perform out of his skin to get back to the winning ways. Prior to the previous two losses, the John Butler-trained
took a victory here in April.
The competition revolves around Chookie Hamilton, Pertemps Networks and Thecornishcockney, with the vote going for the third-named. Despite a rise, John Ryan’s gelding looks good to strike hat-trick. Good luck to him.
