Question:

Theft Rui Cabo San Lucas?

My daughter went for spring break Monday, March 17 and called today (Tuesday, March 18). Her room was broken into and all of her money stolen. It's like someone at the hotel knew they had just arrived and hadn't had time to spend their money yet. I paid extra for this hotel and now find it is not safe. She is there with another family, but I would never allow her to go back to this place.

Do not go to the Rui it is not safe.

  1. First off, I'm sorry that your daughter out of the millions of  people who visit Cabo had a negative experience.

Cabo is a very high end resort town and crime is not very rampant here.  It is actually very safe.  However, we do have lots of transient workers who come here solely to work in the tourist industry. Spring Break is especially pagan and wild.  There is a chance that one or two employees could be corrupt.  It is a foreign 3rd world country down here!

Did you contact the hotel security and police regarding this?

Perhaps if you had accompanied your child, you would have taken more precautions with storing your money and valuables?  18 year olds aren't very worldly and wise.  I'm always surprised when parents let their kids go off on their own.

I am very familiar with all the hotels and resorts here and the 2 Rius are very well respected and high end establishments.

  2. I hope she reported it to the police. They depend on tourism in Cabo and they will investigate.
