  1. science changes a lot. to understand i would recommend reading Thomas Kuhn's 1962 book "The Structure of Scientific Revolutions" it can be hard at times to read but is very informative. or look up paradigm shift.

  2. Because they do. I can't remember the scientists name, but he has theorized that time is not a constant to explain the big bang better. If that is true, then E=MC2 is unreliable. They have also come up with string theory to get around Newton's laws to get the big bang started.

  3. Scientific knowledge DOES change all the time....well, more "develops"

But Christians like to equate that with uncertainty and wrong-ness.

  4. You're talking about people who can only make sense of the world via religious dogma.  They assume that since science is a system that offers explanations about the world, that the explanations must likewise be dogmatic and set in stone.  If science refines itself, then that means it's admitting to having been "wrong", and thus (by their reasoning) can't be trusted.

Of course, that's not the way science works.  Science just tries to find the best explanation for all available evidence at the time.  The best science of 1608 isn't the same as the best science of 2008, but zealots jump to ridiculous conclusion by saying "Well nobody knows anything for sure, so that's that."  I wonder how many of them would be willing to let a doctor treat them with medical techniques from the 1600s.  "Here, put these leeches on your skin.  They'll suck out the bad blood."

  5. Is circumcison healthy? Chocolate? Coffee? How many more things change almost daily?

  6. Science changed its' mind from the spontaneous generation theory to the germ theory. I should say everyone including God but Charles Darwin.
