ok so when i log on and go to my local resources is sends me to "the dc area" is there any way i can put the actual town i live in so i can get actual local vendors instead of ones that are hours away from me?

If your specific area is available, you can select it, however in some cases it only lists a general area that may include yours (ex. Western NY includes Rochester, Buffalo and Syracuse which are hours from each other).  In that case, you may have to do some Mapquesting.
