Theme teaching ideas?

I have to do 5 lesson plans about camping for my final in my early childhood education class. I've almost got the first lesson plan done. I've got most of the ideas from atozteacherstuff.com but I need a lot more different ideas. Thanks. Websites would help a great deal :)

  1. Camping - link to exploring for dinosaurs

    learning objectives:

    science - light/dark - different ideas for light when dark.

    eclectic/battery.

    geography - jungle/dessert - different environments

    maths - large/small

    literacy - write about adventures camping with dinosaurs

    history - timescales. Are there any dinosaurs today. What will you need to take on your camping trip? What is the weather like? What type of clothes will you need to take.

    I could go on.

  4. block area could be logs sturdy enough to hold them for sitting but not too heavy and a variety of sticks for fire building make sure you are intergrating fire safety into your lesson plans at circle or group disscussion.  

    math could be anything from patterning to seriation use different rocks, sizes, pebbles river rocks granite, count them organize them, sort them make patterns

    use big boxes make into canoes or row boats

    use in block centre

  5. Put up a tent in the class for the kids to explore and pretend they are camping. Have a little model cook stove for them to use. Ask them to draw pictures of camping. Make paper suitcases and have hte kids draw what they would pack. Make trail mix or s'mores for a camping snack. Sing camp songs, tell stories around a fake campfire. Take a nature hike.
